ANDY SCHREUR - Sunday, August 18, 2013
DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Orozco pulled off a big road win, Jose Torres and Tigres fell and Paul Arriola notched his first professional goal in Tijuana's away loss.

Puebla 4 Chivas 2

Beasley and Orozco both started and played 90 minutes as Puebla went into the Estadio Omnilife and routed legendary Chivas for their first win of the season.

The hosts got off to a good start when Antonio Gallardo scored in the 10th minute from 25 yards but Chivas failed to mark Jesus Chávez on a corner kick and he easily headed home the equalizer.

Rafael Márquez Lugo put The Goats ahead in the 36th minute when he headed in a cross on a counterattack but again La Franja would claw back. Alfredo Moreno scored in stoppage time at the end of the first half when he sent the ball toward the net and it appeared to miss everything except the back of the net. Replacement goalkeeper Victor Hernández went the wrong way and simply watched the ball bound into the open net.

Things went from bad to worse for the Goats in the second half when Kristian Alvarez when left footed the ball into his own net on a Beasley cross.

Chivas' defensive mishaps would result in the fourth goal for Puebla as well when a sloppy back pass found Argentine Matías Alustiza and he easily beat the goalkeeper for their fourth goal.

Puebla visit Dorados in Copa MX play on Tuesday.

Santos Laguna 3 - Tigres 0

Jose Torres played 90 minutes as Tigres were outplayed by Santos Laguna on Friday.

Oribe Peralta scored his first of two goals in the 36th minute on a header in the box after a Jesus Dueñas yellow card.
Santos midfielder Nestor Calderón doubled the lead for Santos in the 60th minute when poor defending lead to a wide open strike from 8 yards finding the back of the net.

Peralta's second goal came on a turnover on the wing and he calmly dribbled the ball to the edge of the box, drawing out Enrique Palos and slotting the ball past him and into the side netting for a 3-0 lead.

Tigres fall to 10th in the Liga MX standings after the loss and will visit Zapatepec on Wednesday in Copa MX play. Neither Daniel Cuevas or Benji Joya made the 18 for Santos Laguna.

Monterrey 2 - Tijuana 1

Edgar Castillo and Joe Corona both started and Gregory Garza and Paul Arriola came off the bench for the Xolos on Saturday.

The back and forth match saw three goals in the final twelve minutes as Neri Cardozo gave the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 78th minute on a tough angle that beat Cirilo Saucedo.

Garza entered in the 81st minute and Paul Arriola replaced Corona in the 85th minute and made an immediate impact.
Arriola headed a ball ahead on a counterattack and ran twenty yards to the top of the box where the ball was still rolling and took one touch to loft it past the keeper and into the corner of the net for his first professional goal.

However, the Xolos defense faltered and veteran Humberto Suazo was able to head in the winner on a cross in the 89th minute as the Rayados stole all three points for their first win of the season.

Alsonso Hernández was an unused sub for Monterrey.

Club Tijuana travel to Honduras to take on Victoria in Champions League play on Tuesday.

Notes

Adrian Reulas did not make the 18 as Veracruz and Querétaro drew 0-0.

Ventura Alvarado did not make the roster as Necaxa played to a scoreless draw with Atlético San Luis.
