RECAP: VIKINGUR 1 - 1 THOR

RJ DEMELLO - Monday, August 12, 2013
Josh Wicks and Chuck Chijindu got the start in Thor's disappointing draw Sunday, away to fellow strugglers Vikingur Olafsvik.

Wicks continues to be the team's number one goalie, this being his fourth start in a row following a return from a hamstring injury. Chijindu returned to the starting lineup after having to miss one game due to the club having issues with the passport process in Iceland.

It looked early that Thor may be in trouble, going down a goal in the 12th minute. Vikingur midfielder Gudmundur Hafsteinsson beat Wicks to give the home team the lead.

However, Hafsteinsson turned from hero to villain in the 34th minute when he was sent off with a straight red card.

Thor found the equalizer the team most certainly needed in the 52nd minute through midfielder Mark Tubaek.

Despite the team pushing forward for the winning goal it wasn't meant to be on the night and it ended level.

The draw brings Thor to 14 points in 2013, leaving them four points above the relegation zone with seven matches left in the season. Thor is able to return home to face another struggling team, Fylkir, on Monday.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
