The New England Revolution announced Friday the signing of forward Charlie Davies on loan from Danish club Randers FC.

The loan comes with an option for the Revolution to purchase Davies contract. In order to obtain the forward's rights, New England sent the team's final natural pick in the 2014 draft to DC United.

The deal was confirmed to YA on Friday.

Davies spent last season at Randers after joining from French outfit Sochaux, where he had been since 2009.

In 2011 the 27-year-old spent time at DC United on loan, where he scored 11 goals in 26 appearances for the Black-and-Red.

Originally from Manchester, New Hampshire the local product was an All-American at Boston College before turning professional in 2006 with Swedish team Hammarby.

Davies is set to join the team for training on Tuesday after the Revolution return home from their game against Sporting Kansas City.
