Ventura Alvarado made his season debut and played 70 minutes as second division Necaxa fell to Guadalajara on Tuesday night.

Guadajalara 2 - 1 Necaxa

Chivas was able to pick up two away goals and ruin Necaxa's 90th anniversary celebration but it didn't come easily.

The match was deadlocked at 0-0 going into the second half, thanks mostly to a slow playing field and stanch defense by the home team. However, soon Chivas' firepower would lead to goals by Patricio Araújo in the 61st minute and Emmanuel Hernández in the 78th minute.

The home team was able to pull one goal back in the 85th minute, when Eduardo Lillingston beat Chivas keeper Luis Michel to bring Necaxa within striking distance heading into the second leg on August 7th.

Alvarado, the 20 year old Phoenix native is on a season-long loan to the second division Red and Whites from parent Club América. He did not feature in Necaxa's first league match, a 3-1 win over Altamira on Saturday.

Necaxa host Lobos BUAP on Friday in Ascenso MX play where Alvarado will look to make his first league appearance of the season.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
