JAMIE HILL - Tuesday, July 23, 2013
The USSF announced a squad of 18 players for the upcoming Milk Cup tournament in Northern Ireland.

Although Milk Cup rules allow players born in 1994 and older to be used, the US is sending a U-18 group of players born in 1995 and 1996. The team will be coached by U-18 coach Javier Perez, although this age cohort will soon transition to the U-20 player pool for the 2015 U-20 World Cup cycle.

The US squad has a distinctive New York flavor, with no fewer than five members of the Red Bull organization. Perez has tapped New York's trio of homegrown professionals, as well as two others who played a role the Red Bull U-18's Development Academy title run that concluded on July 20.

Other professionals on the team include Lynden Gooch (Sunderland), Ethan Horvath (Molde), and Rubio Rubin, who will join Utrecht when he turns 18.

The US is a regular participant in the annual summer youth competition and won the title in 2010. In the current edition, the US will square off against Mexico on July 29, the hosts Northern Ireland on July 31, and Denmark on August 2.

Rubin isn't unattached per say. He has signed a contract with FC Utrecht that doesn't start until he is 18.

Why are those guys unattached? If they make the US team you would think somebody would want them!
