RECAP: BAHIA 0 - 0 VITORIA
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
NICK LEYDEN - Monday, July 22, 2013
Freddy Adu saw the field for the first time since May as a second half substitute in Bahia's tie with crosstown rivals Vitoria.

The Brasileirao's first Salvador clįssico ended 0-0 despite an open, entertaining matchup. Both teams created several quality scoring chances, only to be stymied by a combination of outstanding goalkeeping and poor finishing.

Cristovao Borges chose to insert Adu for Anderson Talisca's spot in the 76th minute, but the US international could not help break the deadlock despite a generally effective 14 minutes.

The tie puts Bahia in sixth place with 13 points through nine games, one spot below Vitoria.

Freddy will hope to earn more playing time when Bahia host Goias on Sunday 7/28.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
