Fabian Johnson was injured Monday playing for Hoffenheim but the injury should not keep the U.S national team left back out for a long period.

Johnson, 25, is coming off of impressive performances in World Cup qualifying with the U.S national team in June. He has played an important role in leading the U.S team to the top of the table in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying.

Hoffenheim released a statement staying that while Johnson has a partial tear of an ankle ligament, the Bundesliga club expects him back at the end of the week.

"[Fabian Johnson] was tackled during a preseason game at Frankfurt, FSV, and had to be substituted," Hoffenheim press officer Holger Tromp told YA on Monday. "He has a partially torn ligament in his left ankle and will need individual rehab for the next days. The medics hope he can return to team practice by the end of the week."

Johnson and Hoffenheim open their Bundesliga season on August 10 with a home game against FC Nurnberg.

How is a partially-torn ligament not bad?

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
