BRIAN SCIARETTA - Saturday, July 6, 2013
After suffering a knee injury last week while playing for Molde, Josh Gatt has been removed from the U.S national team's Gold Cup roster and replaced by Brek Shea.

The severity of Gatt's injury is not known at this time but on June 28 he was forced out of Molde's 3-1 win over Sarpsborg in just the 38th minute. The 21 year old has been forced to deal with a various leg injuries in recent years which have limited his involvement with the U.S team. To date, he has earned two caps with his debut coming last November in a 2-2 draw with Russia.

Brek Shea played for the U.S team on Friday in a 6-0 win over Guatemala. He came on in the second half and was part of the team's five goal second half outburst. Shea has had dealt with injury problems of his own dating back to a foot surgery in November. He transferred to Stoke City in January but struggled for minutes due to lack of fitness.

It was initially planned that Shea would only participate in the friendly against Guatemala and then would return to England for preseason with Stoke City. Shea, 23, earned his first cap with the U.S team in 2010 and has appeared 17 times with the U.S team.
