Altidore, 23, is coming off a breakout season with AZ Alkmaar where he scored 31 goals across all competitions including the winning goal in the final of the Dutch Cup. It will be the seventh team Altidore has played for in his career after making his pro debut with the New York Red Bulls in 2006.

It will also be Altidore's second stint in the English Premier League after playing with Hull City in 2009/10 while on loan from Villarreal.

The move represents one of the biggest deals for an American player this transfer window as Altidore has recently excelled on international duty in June scoring goals in four straight games to boost the Americans into first place in CONCACAF's World Cup qualifying table.
