ANDY SCHREUR - Friday, April 12, 2013
Bryan Gerzicich hopes to return to the starting lineup as Ironi Kiryat Shmona face off against Ironi Ramat HaSharon on Saturday.

Ironi Kiryat Shmona - Ironi Ramat HaSharon

Gerzicich was an unused substitute in Kiryat Shmona's 3-2 loss at Maccabi Haifa last week, a loss which sees the Blue Lions still searching for their first win in the 2012-13 playoffs.

Ramat HaSharon are coming off a 3-0 loss to Bnei Yehuda and a 6-0 drubbing at the hands of second place Haifa last week. They have lost five consecutive matches and have gone scoreless since a 1-0 win over Hapoel Be'er Sheva on March 9.

The normally stout Blue Lion defense have struggled lately, giving up three goals each in their last two matches, including an 86th minute game winner last week against Haifa.

The chance of European qualification is slipping away from Kiryat Shmona and there are only five matches remaining in the playoffs. They currently sit seven points behind third place Hapoel Tel Aviv for the last Europa League spot and this weekend's home match is being billed as a must win.

Rumors continue to surround Gerzicich's future as his contract with the Northern Israeli club expires at the end of the season. He is reportedly considering offers in MLS and Belgium.

Notes

Leonard Krupnik is not expected to play as Maccabi Netanya play Hapoel Ramat Gan in the relegation playoffs.

Ryan Adeleye and Hapoel Ashkelon face Sektzia Nes Tziona in the Liga Leumit relegation playoffs on Friday.
