Carlos Bocagenra and Racing Santander hope to continue their strong defensive play as they host Girona on Saturday.

Racing Santander - Girona

Bocanegra has made two straight starts for the Highlander's, a scoreless draw with Elche and a 1-0 win over Alcorcón last week. The four points in their last two matches sees them clear of the relegation zone for the first time in months.

New manager Alejandro Menéndez has shaken up the struggling Racing lineup, including installing Bocanegra back in the starting lineup, leading to two straight shutouts.

Girona is currently sitting in fourth place and are in search of their first ever promotion to the Primera División and only trail third place Villareal on goal differential heading into this weekend's matches.

The Catalan's are lead by a trio of dangerous striker's; Acuña leads the team with 13 goals, Benja has 11 and Felipe Sanchón has eight. Talented veteran midfielder Jandro Castro also has eight goals on the season for the high flying Girona

Bocanegra and the rest of the Highlander's back line will be tasked with slowing down the second most potent offense in the Segunda División as Girona only trail Barcelona II with 60 goals scored this season.

Santander will be without Gonzalo Herrero, who suffered a serious knee injury last year and defender Álex Goikoetxea, who is also recovering from injury. They're hopeful that Hameur Bouazza will rejoin the team prior to the match, as he has been on leave in France due to family reasons this week.

Notes

Oguchi Onyewu and Málaga look to bounce back after losses to Real Sociedad and Borussia Dortmund in Champions League play as they host Osasuna on Saturday. They are currently in sixth place in La Liga.
