ANDY SCHREUR - Monday, March 18, 2013
Bryan Gerzicich and Ironi Kiryat Shmona's three match win streak was snapped at the hands of Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Kiryat Shmona 0-1 Hapoel Tel Aviv

Kiryat Shmona controled the game against Hapoel Tel Aviv but were unable earn any points from the contest.

The Blue Lions will look back at this match and only think of the missed opportunities.

The lone goal came from Eden Shrem, who scored only his second of the season in a big match for Hapoel Tel Aviv. Tel Aviv's scoring drought and Kiryat Shmona's goalless run was over.

After the 58th minute goal, Kiryat Shmona ratcheted up the pressure and looked to equalize. In the 70th minute, Tel Aviv's Mor Shushan was sent off for receiving his second yellow card because he handled the ball just outside the box. The ensuing free kick was saved off the line by Tel Aviv keeper Apoula Edel.

Kiryat Shmona dominated possession after Tel Aviv went to 10 men but were unable to get the tying goal. Gerzicich narrowly missed a goal in the 73rd minute that was also saved by Edel. The US born midfielder was subbed off in the 76th minute making way for an attacker.

In the 89th minute, Tel Aviv midfielder Almog Cohen received his second yellow card of the match and the visitor's were down to 9 men. Even with the two man advantage, the Blue Lions were unable to capitalize and will look to rebound next week at Bnei Yehuda.

Leonard Krupnik did not play as Maccabi Netanya fell 3-0 to Hapoel Haifa.

Ryan Adeleye and Hapoel Ashkelon drew 1-1 with Hapoel Bnei Lod.
