The agent for erstwhile ADO Den Haag midfielder John O'Brien reports that discussions with MLS are moving smoothly and that he expects to have a deal completed within the next couple of days.

Although confident of having all the contract i's dotted by midweek, Rob Jansen could not yet say for sure which team would land the US star man.

Chivas USA, one of two hometown clubs to Los Angelino O'Brien, appears to have the inside track on his signature by virtue of holding down the first MLS allocation slot.

However, Jansen hinted that at least one team is working hard to engineer a trade for the World Cup 2002 standout, with the Los Angeles Galaxy rumoured to be offering a package that includes strike sensation Herculez Gomez.

"That is still to be decided," he told YA. "The talks with MLS are proceeding in a normal fashion. We hope to have a solution at the beginning of the week."

O'Brien suffered another injury-hit campaign with ADO after arriving on free transfer from longtime employers Ajax last spring and helping the US to a Gold Cup championship in July.

Jansen told YA on Monday that his client has regained full fitness, and is targeting a place in Bruce Arena's World Cup 2006 selection.
