PSV Eindhoven attacker DaMarcus Beasley has refuted portions of a recent interview with Dutch magazine Voetbal International, saying that he is not in search of the Philips Stadion exit door.
The US ace spoke candidly of wanting more confidence from the coaching staff, but insists quotes that suggested he was unhappy were taken out of context.
He openly wondered about his true place in the PSV system, while also vowing that 'the Netherlands hasn't seen the real DaMarcus Beasley yet'.
"I never said anything about leaving," Beasley told YA. "I read the (magazine), they twisted my words around."
The American has often spoken of a desire to play in England or Spain one day, but made it clear that he wasn't in a hurry.
"They took something I said and kind of ran with it," he laughed. "You know, reporters always love a story."
The #11 shirt admits it was difficult to remain a spectator in this week's Champions League match with Lyon, but promised that his interview did not get him in trouble with coach Guus Hiddink.
"I don't think so," shrugged Beasley. "He hasn't told me I'm in the doghouse or anything."
"It was kind of tough to swallow not playing in the Champions League, but I've started almost every game when I was healthy this season."
The Indiana native said he understands that a club like PSV always has good players on the bench, and accepts his turn out with one condition.
"This is a team and I'm behind our team," asserted Beasley. "It doesn't matter who plays or scores as long as we win. We want to become champions again."
