GENERIC USER - Thursday, June 10, 2010
Michael Thomas is on the hunt for a new employer after being given his release by Swedish Allsvenskan club Halmstads BK.

Thomas had signed with the club prior to this season after a successful trial during the winter offseason.

The news leaked out earlier this week in the Swedish media that Halmstad had opted to go with a player in their youth system to replace the American.

It has now been confirmed to YA by Thomas' representative, Eddie Rock of Libero Sports, that the club has parted ways with the former Notre Dame standout.

Thomas appeared in five matches this spring with the club with two of those coming in starts.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
