US U-20 forward Mario Rodriguez has left Kaiserslautern to sign with Borussia Monchengladbach.

Rodriguez, 19, was recently with Kaiserslautern where he featured primarily with the clubs U-19 team. He was successful in his time there but was only able to play starting in March after paperwork issues prevented him from competitive play the first seven months of the season.

He will stay in Germany but move to Monchengladbach where he will play for the club's U-23 team in the Regionalliga or the 4th tier in Germany. His deal will run through the 2014/15 season with the club holding an option for an additional season.

Rodriguez was a regular feature with the US U-20 team national team for the most recent cycle and was on the U-20 World Cup team that failed to advance out of group play.
