FIFA has refused to accept Costa Rica's appeal for their 1-0 loss on Friday to the United States and the result will stand.

The game made international headlines for being played in Denver under the brutal conditions of a driving snowstorm. The lines on the field had to be shoveled and by the second half, the entire field was covered in snow.

Costa Rica appealed the game and asked for a replay but FIFA declined because Costa Rica did not follow the correct procedures of filing a complaint. Under the rules, Costa Rica's captain must inform the United States team and the officials immediately following the game that his team would appeal.

This procedure was not followed and the U.S team captain Clint Dempsey confirmed in yesterday's press conference that he was not notified by Costa Rica. As a result, Costa Rica's appeal was swiftly denied by FIFA.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
