US national team midfield Mikkel Diskerud is still technically a free agent but that could be changing this week.

Sources have told YA that the Norwegian-born American is expected to sign with a European club this week.

Diskerud, 22, signed with Rosenborg last year and is currently training with the perennial Tippeligaen contender but it is not yet a done deal that he will sign with them. During the offseason in December, Rosenborg hired Per Joar Hansen as head coach and Diskerud is training with the club in part to learn Hansen's style.

Whether Diskerud returns to Rosenborg this year will come down to offers from other clubs.

Right now there are five offers outstanding for Diskerud. Two of the offers are from clubs in the Tippenligaen, two are from clubs in the Russian Premier League, and one is from the Ukranian Premier League. Rosenborg will have the opportunity to match the offers and their decision is expected soon.

The other norwegian club from Rosenborg is Sjetne in the 5th division.
