SHEA ON VERGE OF STOKE DEAL
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, January 29, 2013
The long saga of Brek Shea's transfer to Stoke drawing to a close as deal is now complete pending a physical.

Sources confirmed the deal to YA on Monday night.

The terms of the deal is roughly $6 million and once the left winger passes a physical, the deal will be complete. The transfer will be the second time Stoke City have bought a player from Major League Soccer over the past year. In August, the Premier League club added Geoff Cameron from Houston Dynamo.

Shea, 22, is coming off of foot surgery in November and has only recently resumed practicing. As a native of College Station, Texas, Shea has been capped 15 times by the US national team and has represented the United States at the U-17, U-20, and U-23 level.

Stoke currently sit in 10th place in the English Premier League with 29 points through 23 games. Offense has been a weakness for the Potters who have scored just 22 goals on the season.

A big question for U.S. fans heading into the World Cup is surely on Jozy Altidore and just what is plaguing the young striker at Sunderland.
