Nearly four months after going on loan to Guatemala's Comunicaciones, Moises Hernandez has made his debut.
He recently made his first appearance when he came on as a 76th minute sub for the club in a 2-0 victory over Marquense on October 6. Comunicaciones are currently leading Guatemala's Liga Nacional and have a six point cushion over second place Municipal.
The 20 year old left back came through FC Dallas' academy system and signed a professional contract in July 2010. Hernandez found it difficult to see the field under veteran-oriented Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman; after two years, he had only one US Open Cup appearance to his name. In an effort to give the 20 year old defender more playing time, Dallas sent Hernandez on loan from June until the end of the year.
The Guatemalan league is an unorthodox choice for a developmental loan deal, but Hernandez, who is Guatemalan-American, has ties to the area.
Should we define the word "unorthodox" for you?
This loan deal is exactly unorthodox. How many other young Americans have ever gone on loan to Guatemala? Can you name one?
Before you get pedantic, perhaps you should work on reading comprehension. That comment is not an indictment of the Guatemalan league and has very little to do with the quality of players or teams there. Get over yourself, buddy.
