The 19-year-old forward from Hawaii needs another knee operation that will end his season.

Wood had only recently returned to match fitness for 1860 Munich, but has learned that the same meniscus problem from last year has flared up again, requiring season ending surgery to hopefully fix the problem.

With Wood's contract expiring in June, this is a very inopportune time to go back under the knife, especially having spent so much time injured over the past season.

Wood has dressed several times for Munich this season, and was looking to become a regular fixture on the roster late last year. Depending on the seriousness of the operation, Woods could be back up and ready to train in about six weeks, though the season officially concludes on May 6.

tough break. The kid could always come back to MLS though. You can never have enough attacking talent.
