BRIAN SCIARETTA - Monday, October 10, 2011
On Friday night, Hertha Berlin defeated local club Oranienburger 5-0 in a friendly played during the October international window.

In the game, Americans John Anthony Brooks, Jerome Kiesewetter, and Alfredo Morales all earned minutes.

US U-20 forward Kiesewetter put on a very impressive performance for Hertha as he scored the team's first and last goal of the game.

On the first goal, he took a pass from Brazilian winger Raffael and scored from inside the box. On his second goal, he took a through ball from Marco Djurcin and chipped it over an onrushing keeper to complete the 5-0 scoreline.

Midfielder Alfredo Morales, 21, played occasionally for the US U-20 team during the 2009 cycle but he is said to be considering an offer to play for Peru.

Jerome Kiesewetter and central defender John Anthony Brooks are both born in Germany but are widely considered to be very important parts of the 2013 US U-20 team and possible the 2012 Olympic team as well.

Last May, Brooks turned down a professional contract offer from Bayern Munich to sign a four year professional deal with Hertha Berlin where he developed as a player.

Don't blame any of our under youth player if they decide to play for other country since our National Coach and Scout are not doing the job right. I been saying this over and over again that we should start doing two national team one that is the A team and the other The B team. B team should be a kind of audition to see if they belong to move up to the A team.
I think Klismann should start selecting who's is going to be on the Olympic Team U23 NOW!!

Could we please find a striker to give a passport? We need another midfielder like Jurgen needs a root canal. aren't Holden, Dempsey, Donovan, Edu, Adu, Shea, Torres, Williams, Jones, Klijstan, Beckerman, and...enough? Yet We can only play Altidore and Agudelo over and over despite that they are still both under 23 (or under 18)? We really have zero strikers above age 23 (oh, sorry, Buddle was there). McBride and Wynalda would do as well as the 2 kids. I wish the bloggers and journalists would focus on that critical deficiency. 3 goals from 5 friendlies, 3 of them at home? Focus on pushing Jurgen teaching how to score, and building a more attack oriented youth system. That takes a generation. Or, give a few green cards quick.

Considering that Morales is 21 playing with the U23 team, it might not be too likely that he ever sees first team action with Hertha. With that said, he probably wouldn't make the US team. I could be wrong though

Yeah I read that the Peru coach was coming to Germany to talk with him as well and he was pretty much decided.

I could of sworn I read somewhere that Morales had stated that he would play for Peru.
