Club Career

A product of the Chicago Fire Academy, Gutman would play his college soccer at Indiana University. In his junior year, he would cap of the season by winning the prestigious Hermann Trophy as the top male soccer player in the United States.

At the end of the college soccer season, Gutman was offered a one-week tryout by Scottish Premier League team Rangers FC in December 2018. Meanwhile, the Chicago Fire had offered the defender a homegrown contract to remain with the MLS team. However, he would turn it down.

In January 2019, it was announced that Gutman signed a contract with Rangers' bitter rivals Celtic. It was then announced that he would go out on loan to Nashville SC in the USL Championship, but Major League Soccer disapproved of the move. After Nashville called off the loan, fellow USL team Charlotte Independence announced the signing of the defender for the 2019 season.

International Career
