Club Career

Dest started playing for the youth team at Almere City in his hometown in 2012 before moving over to the Ajax Academy in the same year.

In October 2018, Dest would make his debut for Jong Ajax in a 2-1 loss to Jong PSV Eindhoven. However, he would make a lasting impression throughout the season as he played in 17 games for the reserves.

Dest's progress in the reserves saw him promoted to Ajax's first team, and he went on to make his debut in July 2019 as they won the Johann Cryuff Shield with a 2-0 win over PSV Eindhoven. He then made his Eredivisie debut in August 2019 as he came off the bench in the team's 5-0 win over FC Emmen.

International Career

Born to Surinamese-American father and a Dutch mother, Dest is eligible to represent the United States and the Netherlands.

He has so far played for the United States at the Under-17 and Under-20 levels.

Despite interest by the Netherlands for Dest to play for their Under-23 team, he accepted a call up to the US men's national team, earning his first cap in September 2019 in a 3-0 loss to Mexico.

Jesse Marsch has claimed a personal accolade as he's been named Coach of the Year in Austria.
