In July 2018 Brendan Hines-Ike signed a five-year-contract after both teams agreed to a 750,000 dollar transfer - a record for Kortrijk, according to reports.

The Colorado native thrived in the Swedish top flight in his two-and-a-half seasons with Orebro to become one of the top center-backs in the league. Prior to his move to the professional ranks, he played three seasons of college soccer with Creighton and then one with the University of South Florida following his transfer.

He joins Kortrijk, not one of the perennial powerhouses in Belgium's top flight, but has been on the rise since returning to the first division in the 2007-2008 season. Fellow US center-back Erik Palmer-Brown was on the team's books last season as Manchester City loaned him to the team.

On the international scene, Hines-Ike has not been on the radar of the US national team, but he has in the past participated in training camps with the Under-18 team. Perhaps making the move to Belgium could get him noticed more by the US staff, but there has also been interest coming from the Irish national team as he is close to receiving his passport.

Hines-Ike will have his first chance to see action forr Kortrijk when they kick off the new Belgian league season against Kenny Saief and Anderlecht on Saturday.

The final stretch of the English league season is upon us, with several Americans on the verge of relegation with their teams.
