Club Career

Josh Wicks was born on a US Army base in Germany, but grew up in California. He spent his four-year NCAA career at Cal State Bakersfield and upon his graduation, he signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps, then of the USL First Division, in 2005.

During his first two professional seasons, Wicks served as a backup goalkeeper although injuries allowed him to gain some first team experience. In 2007, Wicks migrated south through Cascadia to sign with the Portland Timbers. Given his first chance as a starter, Wicks earned a selection to the league Best XI at the end of the season.

In 2008, Wicks made the switch to MLS by signing on as the backup goalkeeper for the Los Angeles Galaxy. In 2009, he was traded to DC United where he held the starting spot for part of a season. However, injuries and on-field scufflse with teammates and opponents limited his opportunities.

In 2011, Wicks signed with IFK Mariehamn, where he is expected to be the first choice goalkeeper.

International Career

Wicks has not appeared for the US national team.

I hate to be the harbinger of bad news, ladies and gentlemen, but Michael Orozco will start for the US men's national team in Jacksonville.
