PHILIPAKOS CALLED INTO GREECE CAMP
RECAPS
EXTRA TIME
CHAD WINGER - Friday, March 18, 2005
American Peter Philipakos has been invited to camp by the Hellenic Football Federation ahead of the the nation's U-21 European Championship qualifiers against Georgia and Albania.

The Glen Cove, New York native, however, has not yet made a decision on whether to accept the call up.

"He has been formally summoned by the U-21s," Philipakos' co-agent and brother Ted tells YA. "He has yet to formally accept or decline."

If the Olympiakos midfielder chooses to accept the call-up and is eventually capped in either of the two matches, he would be officially tied to Greece and no longer be eligible to represent the United States.

Philipakos, who is in his first full season in Greece, has recently cracked the starting lineup for the A Ethniki Katigoria giants, earning a start against Chalkidona and following up with a full 90 minutes against Kastoria in the domestic cup.

On Wednesday, Philipakos made his European debut in a losing UEFA Cup effort against English side Newcastle United.
