Hammarby forward Charlie Davies will miss their season opener at GAIS after straining a muscle in his right thigh.
The American pulled the muscle during Saturday training and will not make the trip to Gothenburg on Tuesday.
"He has a light strain in his thigh that he picked up during training," Hammarby press officer Urban Rybrink told YA.
The injury comes as a minor setback for Davies, who had been injury-free throughout the entire preseason.
The young American's starting spot could be taken up by ex-Dallas Burn forward Toni Nhleko.
The club, however, are hopeful that Davies will be ready for their first home game this weekend.
"He will train on Thursday and Friday to see if he can play on Saturday," Rybrink stated. "The chances look good that he will be able to play against Trelleborgs FF."
Davies led Hammarby in scoring during the preseason with three goals.
