US National Team forward Brian Ching has been released to MLS club Houston ahead of Wednesday night's friendly with Guatemala in Texas.
The American holders are busy preparing to defend a 2-0 first leg lead when they make the tricky trip to face CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinal foe Pachuca next week.
Ching, who has netted four times in 21 games for the USMNT, picked up first career international assist in a 3-1 win over Ecuador on Sunday.
The two-time MLS champ executed a perfect breakaway pass on the turn for former San Jose Earthquake teammate Landon Donovan on the winning goal.
US coach Bob Bradley is now left with Kenny Cooper, Eddie Johnson and Taylor Twellman as pure striker options against Guatemala, but may well opt to field just one of those choices in tandem with Donovan.
