Red-hot Fulham striker Brian McBride is scheduled to put pen to paper on a one-year extension, either just before or shortly after the weekend.
The Columbus Crew were attempting to bring their former front man back to MLS at season's end with a seven-figures per season proposal, but threw in the towel after the Cottagers reportedly offered more than $2 million for 2007/08 Premiership services.
The club, who also employ US internationals Carlos Bocanegra and Clint Dempsey, were unwilling to comment directly on any negotiation - but conceded that McBride's future would soon be clarified.
"We don't have anything official to report yet," Fulham press officer Sarah Brookes told YA. "An announcement is imminent, perhaps Friday or early next week."
McBride has scored in four of his last five games for Fulham, bringing his season total to runaway team-high nine.
The longtime US target master arrived at Craven Cottage from the Crew in January 2004, transferred for $1.5 million after a successful loan stint with Everton.
