CHAD WINGER - Monday, December 25, 2006
Hobbled Reading star Bobby Convey, who has just a single appearance since the beginning of October, says no timetable is set for a return to the Jekyll & Hyde Royals.
The American, who started the first seven matches of the season and dished off three assists, had surgery in early December on a niggling knee injury that has bothered the midfielder most the year.
"I am doing alright," Convey told YA. "I started to run over the last week and should be starting to do some light training this week."
"I haven't set any date to return, as they just want me to take it slow and come back as soon as I can feel 100% fit."
"I am feeling very good so hopefully very soon."
Convey, ever-present in the Royals' traipse through the Championship last campaign, admits frustration in having to watch from the sidelines as Steve Coppell's men have defied expectations and currently sit ninth in the Premiership standings.
"It has been extremely difficult to not be able to play," the ex-DC United man lamented. "I have not really ever been injured before."
"I contributed a lot last year and wanted to get back into the same flow this year, but got injured."
"Hopefully, I will be back in the next few weeks, get back fit and contribute again."
