Former Michigan State standout Jordan Gruber has agreed to a six month rolling contract with OFK Belgrade of the Serbian first division and will participate in the upcoming UEFA Cup.

The versatile American attacker caught the interest of several teams in Eastern Europe before OFK offered him a place.

"I was in Italy finishing up some stuff for school, and I had some connections to train and play with some Italian 2nd and 3rd division teams, just to see if I could do it," Gruber told YA late Monday.

While training in Italy, Gruber was spotted by Serbian agent Milos Stoyanovich, who in turn arranged a trial with a few Serbian teams - among them, Partizan Belgrade and Red Star Belgrade.

"I didn't really play as well as I would have liked in my OFK trial," said Gruber. "But they talked to another team that I had already played well with and offered me a contract."

Gruber will join up with OFK in mid-July.
