Jermaine Jones became the first American to score in the knockout rounds of the Champions Leagues since DaMarcus Beasley's strike for PSV Eindhoven against Monaco in 2005.

Jones' strike against Galatasaray in Istanbul puts the Germans in pole position for the return match after the contest finished 1-1.
